Bring earth science teaching to life with one of our loans boxes. All boxes are free to borrow and available for up to three weeks at a time. You must be able to collect and return them to the Museum. Terms and conditions

What can I borrow?
Big box of rocks
Nineteen rocks and minerals representing a wide range of ages, rock types and textures. Fantastic for supporting teaching of the Rock Cycle as well as all sorts of activities including sorting, classification, observational drawing and creative writing.

Mary Anning
Our Mary Anning loans box is packed with real fossils, activities and facts to support classroom teaching. Access the free Mary Anning Padlet for activities to go alongside the box.

Dinosaur
A set of eight fossil replicas from some of the most well-known dinosaurs. The box includes some basic fact sheets and is perfect for a hands-on session before a trip to the Museum.

Fossil Rubbing
This set of fossil replicas is for making rubbings using wax crayons. This is an excellent activity for early years. Use them for practising fine motor skills and exploring textures in the natural environment.

Boy
Based on the book “Boy” by James Mayhew. Boy's cave is cold. Can he find somewhere warm to sleep? Join him on his prehistoric adventure to find out!

Based on the book “Oscar and Arabella: Hot, Hot, Hot” by Neal Layton. Meet two woolly mammoths who don't like hot weather: and find out what they do about it!
